"VULVAR LESION IN A 12Y.O. GIRL"
F. BIANCHI - Fatebenefratelli Hospital- Milano
(Photographs by dr. A. Faravelli)
Clinical history: a 12y.o. girl has a vulvar lesion removed with presumptive clinical diagnosis of Bartolino's cyst.
Macroscopic description: 3 cm grayish, elastic nodule.
Microscopic description: the lesion consists of a well defined proliferation of epithelioid cells in a hyaline, chondroid-like background (pict. 1) - (pict. 2) - (pict. 3) - (pict. 4).
There is no evidence of tubular formation. Neoplastic cells are strongly positive with immunocytochemical staining for Desmin (pict. 5) and Actin (pict. 6); weakly positive staining is shown with Protein S100 (pict. 7); staining for Cytokeratin is negative.
