"SUBCUTANEOUS NODULE ON THE NOSE"
G.P. CASADEI - Maggiore H, Bologna
(pict. by dr. Faravelli)
Clinical history: a 45y.o. man presents with a 1.5cm nodule on the nose, located in-between the subcutaneous tissue and the cartilage; there is history of a trauma in the same site. An incision biopsy is taken and then, eight months later, a larger excision is performed.
Microscopic description: sections show a proliferation of ACT positive spindled cells in a partly myxoid, partly hyaline stroma (pict. 1) - (pict. 2) - (pict. 3).
There is infiltration of the cartilage (pict. 4) - (pict. 5) and of the surrounding fibrous and muscular tissue (pict. 6) and there is moderate lymphoid and plasmacellular interstitial infiltrate. No mitosis is seen.
