"A BREAST NODULE"
E. TAVANI - Rho Hospital
(Pictures by dr. Tavani)
Clinical history: a 57y.o. woman presents with a 1 cm breast nodule in the right lower-outer quadrant.
On ultrasound the nodule is hypo-echogenic with irregular borders; a FNA is performed and shows duct epithelial cells highly suspicious for malignancy (pict. 1) - (pict. 2): a biopsy of the lesion is therefore suggested.
Microscopic description: sections show a lesion with a predominantly lobular pattern growth, with a solid component and cystic areas; there is no significant cytological,ypia (pict. 3) - (pict. 4) - (pict. 5) - (pict. 6) - (pict. 7) - (pict. 8) - (pict. 9) - (pict. 10) - (pict. 11) - (pict. 12).
