"FNA OF SUB-MANDIBULAR NODULE "

Clinical history: A 36y.o. woman presents to our FNA clinic with a left sub-mandibular nodule; the patient refers diffuse face and body hitching and slight weight loss since three months.
Lab investigations are in the normal range with the exception of the ESR; the ultrasound shows a 2.3 cm nodule. A FNA is performed.
Cytological description: the smears are very cellular and consists mainly of lymphoid cells admixed to eosinophils (better seen with MGG stain) and rare plasma cells; there are numerous large cells, mainly isolated, occasionally multinucleated or with multi-lobulated nuclei, often with prominent nucleoli (pict. 1 - pict. 2 - pict. 3 - pict. 4 - pict. 5 - pict. 7 - pict. 8).
Mitoses are observed (pict. 6).
