"PROSTATE MASS"

Clinical history: a 36y.o. man presents an encephaloid, 13cm. mass underneath the bladder, which involves the entire prostate.
Microscopical description: sections show a proliferation mainly of spindled cells, arranged in storiform pattern, which involves the prostate parenchyma (pict. 1); it is admixed with myxoid areas and areas with epithelioid cells (pict. 2 - pict. 3 - pict. 4 - pict. 5 - pict. 6).
There are a very high mitotic index and areas of necrosis (pict. 7).
The neoplastic cells are positive with immunohistochemical staining for Vimentin and CD117 (pict. 8) and negative for CD34 (pict. 9), S100, Actin, Desmin, Cytokeratins and EMA.
