"KIDNEY LESIONS"

Clinical history: a woman presents because of two lesions, one in the right and the other in the left kidney.
One of the two lesions is diagnosed as a clear cell type renal cell carcinoma (Pict. 1).
The other lesion, which is underneath the renal capsule and measures 2.5cm, is yellow-brownish in colour.
Microscopical description: the lesion consists mainly of spindled cells, contains a lot of blood vessels and numerous hemorrhagic areas (Pict. 2 - Pict. 3 - Pict. 4 - Pict. 5).
The spindled cells are positive with immunohistochemical staining for Alpha-Actin and are focally positive for the Anti-melanoma antigen (Pict. 6); they are negative for Cytokeratin, EMA, CD34, S100 and Desmin.
