MINUTES MEETING JUNE 2001

Minutes of the meeting held on June 2nd and 3rd, 2001
in CODERA

Far away in the sky a chopper appears: it is the one which will carry, in three minutes, three lazy pathologists to meet the others up the top of the mountain. These others have tenaciously climbed up to Codera and, after a refreshing shower, at around 4pm, they join the 'lazy' (but refreshed) colleagues with well-deserved airs of conceit.
The IV Alpine meeting, as it has been renamed, presents itself as a productive and interesting one.
The meeting begins with R. Giardini, the organiser of the event, who gives an interesting report on the history of Medicine in the Sondrio province. It is followed by a brilliant communication by S. Carinelli on the history of the Sertoli cells and then the discussion of the cases starts.
At 6pm, the scientific part of the meeting concludes. The traditional Totopath, prepared by R. Giardini and N. Parafioriti, closes the afternoon: Fabio Giustolisi wins the first prize (a hand-made wooden plate). Ermano Ceretti (the last one with only three correct answers out of 13) is presented with an ancient nail from the Codera valley.
After dinner, and the usual “ Valley Bingo”, D. Bauer and C. Scaccabarozzi tell us the tales of the “....romantic lake boats...”, otherwise known as the History of the Lario boats.
Meanwhile outside, although it is pouring down with rain, the annual Spring Fair is taking place. If you would like to know more about it, read D. Bauer's report on the web site in the Corriere dei Patologi section.
Giardini is by now overly exhausted and continuously mutters “...never again!”
But everyone knows that in 2003 it will be time for the V edition of the Alpine meeting and maybe then, the three lazy pathologists will also manage to climb up to the top.
